What We Do

Sycamore Energy Law, P.C. utilizes over a decade of big law and in-house legal experience to successfully originate, negotiate, and close commercial transactions across the full project lifecycle for renewable energy facilities in a timely manner. We believe execution takes precedence over theoretical debates, and pride ourselves in working collaboratively with counterparties, focusing on a solutions-oriented approach, to ensure transactions close on time.

Our clients include major renewable energy independent power producers, Fortune 500 companies, consultants and strategic fund investors. 

Our practice specializes in tax equity and debt financings, cash equity investments, sales, acquisitions, and asset management. In addition, our extensive experience in the renewables sector allows us to provide strategic advice with respect to corporate structuring, operations and governance, as well as market perspective and relationship approach with various counterparties.

Who We Are

Ms. Velamakanni founded Sycamore Energy Law, P.C. in 2021 after identifying an opportunity for commercially-focused, time and cost-efficient legal advisory services in a rapidly expanding market.

Prior to founding Sycamore Energy Law, P.C., Ms. Velamakanni served as Associate General Counsel at Cypress Creek Renewables, a leading solar independent power producer based in Santa Monica, California.

Prior to Cypress Creek Renewables, Ms. Velamakanni was an attorney at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, where she focused on tax equity and debt financings, as well as M&A transactions in solar, wind and natural gas.

Prior to Orrick, Ms. Velamakanni was an attorney at Nixon Peabody LLP, where she represented tax equity investors and sponsors in a range of solar, wind, and historic rehabilitation project financings.

Ms. Velamakanni began her career in renewables as legal associate to the General Counsel of Cape Wind Associates. 

Ms. Velamakanni received her her LL.M in Taxation from Georgetown University, J.D. from Boston College Law School, and B.S. from NYU Stern School of Business.

Ms. Velamakanni is admitted to the New York and California State Bar.
